Dr Negin Sedaghat FRACS is a distinguished Specialist General Surgeon with sub-specialisation in Breast Surgery & Surgical Oncology as well as Endocrine Surgery. Dr Sedaghat is known for her advanced skills in precision surgery and expert assessment enabling patients to not only understand their condition, but also to have access to a highly individualised treatment approach designed to optimise outcomes.

Dr Sedaghat has over a decade of experience and training in her specialist areas of practice. This includes award of Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019, as well as dedicated post-Fellowship subspecialisation in Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery from distinguished Australian centres. 

 

Her first subspecialty appointment was to the Surgical Oncology & Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, dedicated to the surgical management of skin cancer, soft tissue tumours/masses & thyroid disease. During this time, Dr Sedaghat was also an international Visiting Fellow in Breast Surgical Oncology at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA. 

 

Under the auspices of the Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand specialist society, Dr Sedaghat was then appointed to specialty Breast Surgery Fellowship in Adelaide and Sydney. At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Sedaghat was mentored by Breast & Endocrine Surgeons, including internationally respected surgeons in the treatment of surgical disease of the thyroid & parathyroid glands. During this time, she was also awarded with distinction the Sydney Professional Certificate in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (USYD). 

 

At the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute, Dr Sedaghat performed high-volume and wide-ranging advanced oncoplastic & reconstructive breast surgery under the tutelage of renown mentors. Additionally, she was the Chair of the Breast Surgery Audit and supervised Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellows at Westmead Hospital. 

 

Dr Sedaghat's notable contributions to surgery are not only reported in numerous highly-regarded surgical journals, but she is also invited to assist the editorial boards of international surgical publications. 

 

Dr Sedaghat is a member of both Breast Cancer and Endocrine Disease Multidisciplinary Teams. She is the current MD Discipline Lead for Patient Safety & Quality at Macquarie University in Sydney and a Clinical Examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
