Associate Professor Noojan Kazemi

Overview

 

Noojan Kazemi, FACS FRACS received his Medical Degree from the University of Sydney and completed his neurosurgery residency through the various training hospitals of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons including the Royal North Shore and the Royal Melbourne Hospitals. He also completed a two-year neurosurgery research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Following residency, he obtained his fellowship training in complex spine surgery in both the Departments of Orthopedics and Neurosurgery at the University of Washington, followed by a minimally-invasive spine and brain tumor surgery fellowship at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, Washington. 

 

Dr. Kazemi is board certified through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as spinal tumors, minimally-invasive surgery and craniocervical distraction injuries. He has also authored several book chapters in major neurosurgery textbooks.

 

His main clinical interests include all aspects of spine and peripheral nerve surgery but in particular minimally-invasive surgical approaches to the spine including treatment of deformities and tumor conditions - as well as utilization of the newest techniques in peripheral nerve surgery. His academic interest lies in the application of evidence-based techniques to the practice of neurosurgery.
