The College offers a large number of scholarships, awards,
lectures and prizes. Please be careful to read all terms and
conditions when making an application for a scholarship, award,
lecture or prize, as different terms apply for each.
The College Scholarship Program offers Research and Travel
Scholarships and Grants. The program, under the umbrella of the
Foundation for Surgery, includes awards totaling more than A$1
million in funding annually to the most academic and able surgical
Trainees, Fellows and other worthy applicants from Australia and
The International Development Program provides awards,
fellowships, grants and scholarships to surgeons to fund training
opportunities and facilitate professional contact with medical
personnel. The recipients are from Asia and the Pacific, Australia,
New Zealand, United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
The College presents awards in the form of medals and prizes
whose recipients are approved by the Council, after a
recommendation is made by the Awards Committee. The Committee is
related to honorific awards only, and is not involved in decisions
about the allocation of research and training awards that have
monetary value or in recommending named lecturers.
The College has a range of lectures and prizes that are run on a
regional and national level. Each state has awards, prizes and
lectures which are awarded by the respective State Committees.
