Effective 18 July 2022, RACS Library users will be able to request library resources using improved and easier to use Library Request Forms.

This initiative is part of the College’s 1CT Transformation Program focused to improve member experience across RACS digital systems and is a result of feedback we’ve received from the College Library users.

Users submit requests to get access to Journal Articles and Book Chapters that do not exist within the RACS Library holdings.  When users fill out the form, if the item is available, the user can download the article/chapter instantly. If they can’t find what they’re looking for, they’ll be prompted to complete the Library Request Form to provide further details. The form will be prefilled with the data from their original search, so they only need to fill out the remaining fields.

Literature Search Request Form has also been made available for the users to request a literature search!

What will change on 18 July?

The location of the links to the library request form won’t change but the library forms will be easier and faster to complete. Users can continue to access request forms in the Forms section on the RACS Library page. Users can also access these forms in the Library Requests section via eHub.

The resource requested will be available to access or download in the Library Requests section in eHub. Users will be notified by email when it’s ready and can access the resource for one month.

The status of the library requests can also be viewed and tracked in the Library Requests section in eHub. Users can also cancel orders through eHub.

Users will no longer have to wait for the Library staff to retrieve the resource they have requested if the Library subscribes to it. If the resource is available, the user can access it instantly.  If the resource is not in the Library’s holdings and the user has submitted the request, the College Library Team will then source the requested resource and make it accessible to the user within eHub.
