The Foundation for Surgery has raised $207,413 as part of the 2019 Pledge-a-Procedure campaign. Thanks to the generous contributions of active, retired and honorary Fellows, Trainees and supporters across Australia and New Zealand, the Foundation doubled its target and experienced an increase of 98 per cent on last year’s Pledge campaign.

Funds raised through this year’s campaign will help provide ensure sustainable access to health services for children, families and communities in Timor-Leste. As Timorese specialists prepare to take the reins of our largest lifesaving health program, support from donors, leaves a legacy of better healthcare for those who desperately need it.

“The generosity of our supporters ensures that our Timor-Leste health program will continue to change and save lives long after our teams have returned home,” says Jessica Redwood, Foundation for Surgery Manager.

“This means more people across Timor-Leste will be able to sustainably access safe, quality surgical care when they need it most. The significance of this impact cannot be understated. We are incredibly grateful to each and every person who showed their support by donating this year.”

If you wish to share this work or make a further contribution to equip the next generation of Timorese specialists in meeting the critical health needs of their communities, there is still time. You can donate to the Foundation for Surgery.

The Foundation for Surgery relies on donations and bequests to continue to support children, families and communities to live their healthiest lives. All costs for the Foundation for Surgery are provided for by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons so that 100 per cent of your donation achieves its maximum impact in the community.
