The ANZELA-QI working party are pleased to announce the first report (PDF 2.39MB) from the program is now available.

The Australian and New Zealand Emergency Laparotomy Audit – Quality Improvement (ANZELA-QI) program is co-led by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in collaboration with other colleges and societies.

The program has been running since June 2018 and was established for the purpose of providing participating hospitals with data to support local initiatives to improve the quality of patient care and management of the acute abdomen.

The data collected on emergency laparotomies performed within participating hospitals is used to provide monthly feedback to each participating site. This allows for assessment of performance against evidence-based standards of care and to drive quality improvement processes across the hospital.
