A/Prof Anita Jacombs is an Australian-trained General Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in open, laparoscopic, and robotic advanced hernia surgery, as well as complex abdominal wall reconstruction.

She maintains a high-volume clinical practice while actively pursuing an academic career focused on medical education and research. She is Chair of Surgery at Blactown Clinical School and Western Sydney University. Her research centres on two main areas: understanding bacterial biofilm infection of surgical implants and the reasons for implant failure (the subject of her PhD), and pioneering the use of pre-operative abdominal wall preparation with Botulinum toxin A to improve outcomes for patients with complex incisional hernias.
