Dr Ross Calopedos
Overview
Dr. Ross Calopedos is an Australian-trained Urological Surgeon with a subspecialty focus on men’s health, penile surgery, and the restoration of erectile function. His practice spans the full spectrum of urology, with a specialised focus on sexual medicine, Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease and prostate cancer survivorship. Dr. Ross also provides advanced solutions for benign prostate conditions, such as enlarged prostate, and renal stone management, combining cutting-edge techniques with compassionate care.
After completing his urological training across New South Wales, Dr. Ross undertook an additional two years of advanced subspecialty training in minimally invasive surgery and men’s health. His dedication to excellence led him to train in international centres of excellence in penile implant surgery across the UK, Spain, Belgium, and the United States. Under the mentorship of world-renowned experts - such as Dr. Paul Perito, Professor David Ralph, Professor Koenraad van Renterghem, Dr. Ignacio Moncada and Dr. Juan I. Martínez-Salamanca - this training has equipped Dr. Ross with unparalleled expertise in the latest minimally-invasive treatment of erectile dysfunction positioning him as a leading penile implant surgery specialist in Sydney.
To help men with prostate issues, Dr. Ross further enhanced his expertise by training with Dr. Dean Elterman in Toronto, a world leader in minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), allowing him to adopt cutting-edge techniques for improving patient outcomes with reduced recovery time. These included Aquablation, Rezum, Optilume BPH, UroLift and iTind. For the treatment of kidney stones, Dr. Ross provides all minimally invasive techniques including laser stone surgery utilising Holmium and Thulium laser technologies, ureteroscopy, pyeloscopy and PCNL.
Dr. Ross' research is highly regarded, with numerous publications on prostate cancer, sexual health, and andrology. In 2023, he received the SMSNA Research Award for his groundbreaking work on the anatomy of the penile suspensory ligament (PSL). His findings challenge long-standing assumptions about penile lengthening procedures, demonstrating that dividing the suspensory ligament can result in significant biomechanical consequences, including compromised stability and functionality. Recognising the need for safer, patient-focused alternatives for men seeking this type of procedure, Dr. Ross has introduced innovative techniques to Australia, including the UroFill® procedure. This minimally invasive approach enhances flaccid length while preserving the structural and functional integrity of the penis. His work is reshaping the field of prosthetic urology, advocating for safer, non-invasive techniques that prioritise both aesthetic outcomes and functional integrity.
Based in Sydney, he offers comprehensive, patient-centred care through both in-person and through Telehealth consultations, ensuring accessibility for patients across Australia. Clinic Locations:
