Dr Stephen 'Steve' Guy
Overview
Dr Stephen Guy is a Staff Specialist General Surgeon and the Clinical Lead for Surgery for Bond University at the Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland (Australia). He graduated with First Class Honours and was Dux of the 2013 cohort completing the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of surgery at Griffith University. He was awarded numerous academic honours including the University Medal, Surgical Prize and Dean’s Medallion. He then graduated with Distinction with a Masters of Science (Surgical Sciences) from the University of Edinburgh in 2017 and was awarded the British Journal of Surgery prize. He completed Surgical Education and Training in General Surgery in Queensland, Australia and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in February 2022. On completion of his training he gained additional post fellowship subspecialty experience in upper gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery as the Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellow at the Gold Coast University Hospital in 2022/3. Dr Guy now works full time as a Staff Specialist in the department of General Surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital and is accredited at Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Private Hospital. He has achieved recognition of training in both gastroscopy and colonoscopy from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA). He has a strong commitment to maintaining quality in surgery through training, audit and clinical governance and is an instructor on the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) course and is a workplace based assessor for international medical graduates at the Gold Coast University Hospital. In addition to his clinical, teaching and clinical governance responsibilities Dr Guy is actively involved in research with multiple peer reviewed publications and presentations.
