Dr Filip Cosic
Overview
I am a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a sub-specialty practice in upper limb surgery — encompassing shoulder, elbow, and wrist — as well as complex and simple trauma of the extremities.
I completed advanced sub-specialty fellowship training at the Institut de la Main et de l'Épaule (Paris Hand and Shoulder Institute) in shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopy, tendon transfers, and reconstructive shoulder surgery.
I offer comprehensive management of the full spectrum of shoulder, elbow, and wrist pathology, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, shoulder arthritis, and joint replacement. I also offer radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as a minimally invasive option for chronic shoulder pain.
I believe in a patient-centred approach to care — taking the time to listen, explain, and ensure each patient has a clear understanding of their condition and the options available to them. Treatment decisions are made collaboratively, with management tailored to the individual's goals, lifestyle, and expectations rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
I hold a PhD in Surgery from Monash University, with research focused on the operative and non-operative management of proximal humerus fractures. I am an active clinician-researcher with over 20 peer-reviewed publications and have presented my work at national and international orthopaedic meetings.
