Mr Martin Rees

Overview

After completing his Specialist Plastic surgery training at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, Martin embarked on a 5 year overseas super-speciality training in Cranio-facial and Cleft  lip and palate surgery combined with microvascular free-flap reconstruction for major cancer and trauma defects. Upon returning to Full-time Specialist practice at Middlemore he co-founded the Craniofacial Clinic with Chris Furneaux, Neurosurgeon, and continued working with children with cleft lip & palate deformities. Martin devoted 23 years of his consultant life to cleft and craniofacial surgery plus facial trauma repair and free-flap reconstruction of major trauma and cancer defects of the head and neck and limbs plus doing acute hand and burn surgery.

In 2008 Martin entered full time private practice at the Auckland Plastic Surgical Centre and the adjacent Remuera Surgical Care in Remuera. He has now 'semi-retired' to working only in what was his subsidiary practice at Marina Specialists, Half Moon Bay Marina, East Auckland. Due to the high skin cancer rate in the boating community in this area there is a lot of skin cancer surgery for basal and squamous cell carcinomas and melanoma, surgery being done in the excellent outptient operating theatre at Marina Specialists.

In addition, he specializes in Cosmetic Surgery i.e. face-lifts, neck-lifts, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, breast augmentation & reduction, abdominoplasty, body  contouring with liposculpture/liposuction plus fat grafting for facial and breast contour restoration. Hand surgery such as carpal tunnel release, treatment of Dupuytren's contracture and removal of ganglions etc round out the busy Marina Plastic surgery practice. Office and theatre hours are 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on Friday.
