Dr Matthew 'Matt' Irwin
Overview
Dr Matt Irwin is a conscientious general surgeon completing a doctorate and accredited subspecialty training in colorectal surgery. He is passionate about patient advocacy, evidence-based practice and education.
Matt is affiliated with both the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. He is a Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW, and he coordinates two courses for the Master of Surgery and Master of Critical Care at the University of Sydney. Matt has received teaching awards at each.
Matt is an avid researcher and mentor for junior doctors early in their research careers. His research has been presented at local and international conferences, and published in local and international peer-reviewed journals including Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, Colorectal Disease, British Medical Journal, and the Australia and New Zealand Journal of Surgery.
