Dr Michael Lamparelli

Overview

I moved to work as a full time Public Staff Specialist in Rockhampton, Central Queensland in March 2020.

I was appointed as Director of Surgery in 2021.

Having gained permanent residency, I now also offer my services at the Mater Hospital in Rockhampton.

Born and brought up in the UK, I first worked in Australia as a registrar at Flinders medical centre in Adelaide in 1999-2000. I was appointed as a consultant general and colorectal surgeon in Dorchester, Dorset in 2002, and served on council of the ACPGBI as well as being on RCSEng colorectal and ATLS faculty. I am a founder member of the Pelvic Floor Society.

I now head a 6 consultant general surgical team in Rockhampton, providing tertiary level colorectal and general surgery to our population and that of CQ. I have research interests in the development of advanced telehealth capabilities to support remote and rural surgeons keeping patients' treatment closer to home. 

My own subspecilaist interests are in laparoscopic and endoscopic management of colorectal and general surgical conditions as well as advacned proctology and colorectal pelvic floor management

I also offer a pelvic floor clinic on a regular basis at the QEII Hospital in Brisbane.

I am a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and retain King's commision as a reservist in the army.
