Mr Robert Elliott
Overview
Mr Rob Elliott is a graduate of Otago Medical School, a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association.
He has subspecialty interest in shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction, hip preservation and Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) replacement using a minimally invasive approach. He also treats knee and elbow sporting injuries and degenerative conditions.
He completed his medical degree in 2003 and worked as a resident doctor in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. He began working in orthopaedics in Ireland in 2007. He completed a Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine, through the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in 2008. Following this he returned to New Zealand to compete for a position on the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association’s training program. He began formal orthopaedic training in 2009 and passed the final fellowship exams in 2014.

Shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty with Professor Alex Castagna - Humanitas Hospital, Milan, Italy
Sports knee surgery with Andy Williams and Simon Ball - Fortius Clinic (FIFA accredited) and Chelsea Westminster Hospital, London, UK
Shoulder and Elbow arthroscopy and arthroplasty with Ass Prof Simon Bell and Richard Dallalana - Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow centre and Park Clinic, Melbourne, Australia
Hip athroscopy and Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) hip replacement with Phong Tran - SOS Clinic and Western Health, Melbourne, Australia
Rob is married with two children. He played cricket at high school, rugby till the end of university and still enjoys tennis, social beach volleyball, running, mountain biking, surfing and skiing. He has been team doctor to the Tasman Makos professional rugby team and camp doctor at Grajagan (G-Land) Surf Camp, Java, Indonesia
He returned to work at North Shore Hospital in January 2017. He maintains his public commitment where he treats public patients, teaches and is involved with research.
He consults privately at Axis Sports Medicine Specialists, Southern Cross North Harbour Specialist Centre in Wairau Valley, and at Ponsonby White Cross.
