Prof Shomik Sengupta
Overview
Prof Sengupta has particular training, expertise and interest in surgery for urologic cancers, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer and testis cancer. He specialises in radical prostatectomy (open or by the daVinci robot), cystectomy with ileal conduit or neobladder reconstruction, partial or total nephrectomy (open or laparoscopic) and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection.
Additionally, Prof Sengupta also performs general urologic procedures, including cystoscopy, bladder and prostate biopsy, vasectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), stone surgery (including ureteroscopy and shock wave lithotripsy or ESWL).
Prof Sengupta carries out surgery at the Epworth Freemasons Hospital, Epworth Eastern Hospital, Waverley Hospital and John Fawkner Hospital. Surgery can usually be booked within two to four weeks of initial consultation. Prof Sengupta is also attached to Eastern Health as a visiting Urologist.
