Mr Steven Merten

Overview

A recognised leader in the field of reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery, Dr Steve Merten is a fully qualified plastic surgeon, trained under the esteemed Royal Australian College of Surgeons, and has helped patients from all over the world achieve their goals with beautiful and natural-looking results.

Dr Merten graduated from medical school at Sydney University and ultimately became a plastic surgeon after 11 years of intense training. In addition, he completed Fellowships in Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Surgery at the Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery and Monash University, and a Fellowship in Breast Reconstruction at the University of British Columbia, Canada. As a leading plastic surgeon recognised by his peers, Dr Merten has previously filled highly prestigious roles including Chairman of the NSW Chapter of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons from 2009 to 2010, and Head of Plastic Surgery at Concord Hospital in Sydney, a leading teaching hospital, responsible for the training of aspiring Australian plastic surgeons.

In more recent further recognition of his skill and expertise, Dr Merten was appointed as a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery at Macquarie University, Sydney in 2010, where he is responsible for advanced training of plastic surgeons from around the world.

Dr Merten is actively involved in clinical research in plastic surgery, and regularly attends conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest advances in plastic and cosmetic surgery. He is a currently a member or Fellow of a number of respected professional organisations, including:
