Dr Santhosh George Thomas
Overview
Dr Santhosh George Thomas is a highly trained and well-regarded Australian Neurosurgeon & Spine Surgeon with several years of experience in the management of brain, spine and peripheral nerve conditions. He works as a Consultant Neurosurgeon & Spine Surgeon at Macquarie University Hospital, Sydney.
He completed MBBS with honours from Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India, where he graduated as the Eileen B Snow ‘Best Outgoing Graduate’. He did his neurosurgical training at the Department of Neurological Sciences, Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, India, the pioneering neurosurgery department in South Asia. At his graduation, he was awarded the prestigious Dr Jacob Chandy Gold Medal, for best all-round achievement in Neurosurgery.
He went on to complete multiple post graduate neurosurgical fellowships at the prestigious Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney where he undertook further training in cerebrovascular surgery, neuro-oncology and spine surgery, before he gained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery. He also holds a Masters in Advanced Surgery from Macquarie University, Sydney.
Dr George Thomas has a passion for neuro-oncology and endoscopic skull base surgeries. He collaborates with a multidisciplinary team in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring his registrars. He believes in listening to his patients, provides personalised care and evidence-based treatment. In addition, he is proficient in several languages, including English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil.
