Dr Simon Fleming
Overview
Dr Simon Fleming is a consultant orthopaedic hand and wrist surgeon, medical educator, and internationally recognised advocate for cultural change in healthcare. He has over a decade of experience as a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, with a clinical focus on complex trauma and the management of arthritis, Dupuytren’s disease, and other challenging conditions affecting the hand and wrist.
Dr Fleming is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He completed a medicine degree from Barts & The London in 2006 and holds a PhD in medical education.
A founding member of the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance, Dr Fleming currently serves on the Executive Board of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers. He has held numerous senior leadership roles, including President of the British Orthopaedic Trainees’ Association and Vice Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Trainee Doctors’ Group.
Dr Fleming has delivered over 250 invited keynote lectures worldwide and is widely known for his influential social media presence. His work is driven by a commitment to creating humane, inclusive, and high-performing training cultures that support both clinician wellbeing and excellence in patient care.
