Dr Negin Sedaghat FRACS is a Specialist General Surgeon with subspecialty training in breast surgery, surgical oncology and endocrine surgery. Her practice is dedicated to breast assessment and breast surgery, caring for patients with breast symptoms or imaging abnormalities, breast cancer or risk management, breast implant-related concerns, and patients considering breast reduction surgery.
Having devoted her career to breast surgery, Dr Sedaghat combines advanced training and extensive experience in breast, oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery with a commitment to thoughtful clinical judgement, evidence-based care and clear communication. She aims to ensure every patient feels informed and confident throughout their care.
Alongside her breast practice, Dr Sedaghat has extensive experience in endocrine surgery, particularly thyroid and parathyroid surgery including minimally invasive approaches, and provides care for selected general surgical conditions, including hernia, skin and acute care surgery.
Dr Sedaghat completed her medical degree at the Australian National University before undertaking General Surgery training across major teaching hospitals throughout NSW and the ACT, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She then completed advanced subspecialty training through the BreastSurgANZ Breast Surgery Training Program and was awarded the Sydney Professional Certificate in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery from the University of Sydney. Her fellowship training included Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, followed by advanced Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute.
To ensure her practice is informed by contemporary evidence and advances in breast surgery, Dr Sedaghat remains committed to ongoing professional development. This includes regular participation in international conferences and collaborations with leading breast surgeons overseas, such as Visiting Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA, and completion of the IERBS Certificate in Robotic Breast Surgery, Taiwan.
Dr Sedaghat is a member of Breast and Endocrine Multidisciplinary Teams, and contributes to surgical education through university teaching and clinical examining. She remains active in breast surgery research with publications on implant-based breast reconstruction and surgical techniques that aim to improve patient outcomes. Dr Sedaghat is also regularly invited to review breast surgery research submitted for publication in international surgical journals.
With experience across both public and private hospitals for more than a decade, Dr Sedaghat understands that seeking surgical advice can come at a time of uncertainty. Whether assessing a new breast concern, treating breast cancer or discussing breast reduction surgery, Dr Sedaghat aims to take the time to listen carefully, explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, and develop a management plan that reflects both the best available evidence and what matters most to each patient.
