Dr Syed 'Ali' Rizvi

Overview

Dr Ali Rizvi is a Specialist General Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in Breast and Oncoplastic Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Skin Cancer Surgery and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and holds a Master of Advanced Surgery in Breast Surgery from the University of Sydney.

His general surgical practice encompasses a broad range of conditions, including hernias, gallbladder disease, soft-tissue lesions and selected abdominal surgical conditions. He uses laparoscopic and open surgical techniques according to each patient’s diagnosis, clinical circumstances and individual needs.

Dr Rizvi provides comprehensive care for both benign and malignant breast conditions. His breast surgery practice includes breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, sentinel lymph node surgery and oncoplastic procedures. He is experienced in Level I and Level II oncoplastic techniques, including therapeutic mammoplasty, breast reshaping and implant-based reconstruction. By incorporating reconstructive and plastic surgical principles into breast cancer surgery, he aims to achieve oncologically appropriate treatment while also considering breast shape, symmetry and function.

His endocrine surgery practice includes the assessment and surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid conditions, including thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, goitre, hyperparathyroidism and other endocrine surgical disorders.

Dr Rizvi also performs surgery for skin cancers and benign skin and soft-tissue lesions. Where appropriate, he uses carefully planned excisions, local skin flaps, skin grafts and other reconstructive techniques to achieve suitable clearance while preserving function and appearance.

As a GESA-recognised endoscopist, Dr Rizvi performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy for the investigation, diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal conditions, including bowel cancer screening, polyps, gastrointestinal bleeding and changes in bowel symptoms.
