About the symposium

The 2025 Symposium will see its inaugural participation in the Melbourne Rare Book Week, 24 July – 2 August 2025.

Join us for this free event that celebrates the importance of surgical history. Presentations will include the Black Death and explore authors from the prized Cowlishaw Collection including Vesalius, Aurelius Cornelius Celsus, Remmelin, and Al – Zahrāwī.

Assoc Prof Felix Behan, FRACS AM will deliver the Kenneth Fitzpatrick Russell Memorial Lecture.
