Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in CQ in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment.
About the role:
The Registrar/Principal House Officer assists the staff specialists and senior medical staff in the management of General Surgery services and surgeries to patients in CQ. They will also be responsible for supporting our visiting Urology team.
About you:
• MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency at Level 3 supervision.
• If qualifications were obtained outside of Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision. To find out more, please review the Role Description.
Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $169,389 p.a. is comprised of:
• An annual rate between $134,489 - $147585 p.a.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• 17.5% leave loading

To participate in the provision, development, and maintenance of an effective, efficient, and equitable clinical service to hospital clients.
Time in the Department will present the opportunity to enhance your Orthopaedic knowledge and develop skills while contributing invaluably to the provision of patient care as a member of the MHHS Orthopaedic team.
The Department caters for a population of approximately 180,000, in addition to interstate and international tourists. The Orthopaedic Department performs approximately 2,300 theatre procedures per year – of which there are 1,500 emergency procedures. The Outpatients Department has approx 80 patients in the Fracture Clinic and 50 new patients in the Orthopaedic clinic in one week.
Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approx 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.

The health service also includes the primary hospitals at Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon and Biloela, along with numerous smaller rural facilities that transfer patients to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation.
About the role:
The Registrar/Principal House Officer supports Staff Specialists and Senior Medical Staff in the delivery of urology services and surgical care to patients across Central Queensland. The role also provides support to the visiting urology team and includes participation in the general surgery registrar on-call roster.
About you:
• MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.
• If qualifications were obtained outside of Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision and provide the following:
o Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language Test results within the last year.
o Evidence of successful completion of AMC MCQ (Part 1) Examination.
o Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required.

As the Principal House Officer/Registrar you can expect one-on-one consultant supervision in theatre and clinic to grow your skills, an active research community and a supportive team. The role is to assist the Director, Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeons and other Senior Medical Staff, in a variety of Orthopaedic services such as elective operating, general and specialist trauma operating, elective and fracture clinics, teaching, contribution towards regular audit, M&M and departmental research.
