About the role 
Townsville University Hospital is seeking a motivated General Practitioner with a Special Interest in Colorectal to join our Surgical Outpatient Clinics. This parttime Senior Medical Officer role offers the opportunity to contribute to high quality colorectal surveillance care within a supportive tertiary hospital environment. The position provides independent clinical practice with the support and clinical oversight of colorectal surgeons. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
Provide colorectal surveillance services under the supervision of colorectal surgeons. 
Independently manage patients in weekly clinics and liaise with community GPs to ensure continuity of care. 
Work collaboratively with nurses, surgeons, and administrative staff as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure timely communication of results and outcomes to patients and their nominated GPs. 
Coordinate referrals to outpatient departments or the Elective Surgery Waitlist following consultant discussion. 
Participate in in-service education, including training in digital health systems such as the integrated electronic Medical Record (ieMR). 
Contribute to teaching undergraduate medical students allocated to the clinics.

About the role:
The Registrar/Principal House Officer supports Staff Specialists and Senior Medical Staff in the delivery of urology services and surgical care to patients across Central Queensland. The role also provides support to the visiting urology team and includes participation in the general surgery registrar on-call roster.

About you:
MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.
If qualifications were obtained outside of Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision and provide the following:
o Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language Test results within the last year.
o Evidence of successful completion of AMC MCQ (Part 1) Examination.
o Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required.
