Dr Negin Sedaghat

Overview

Dr Negin Sedaghat FRACS is a Specialist Breast, Endocrine and General Surgeon with highly qualified expertise in breast surgical oncology, oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, supported by over a decade of experience treating patients across all stages of breast health. She provides comprehensive breast care, and also manages thyroid and parathyroid conditions, hernias, and general surgical concerns.

Known for her clear communication and calm presence, Dr Sedaghat’s practice philosophy is anchored in health, confidence, and dignity - values that resonate with patients at every stage of life and treatment. She works closely within a multidisciplinary team to guide patients through complex diagnoses and treatment decisions, combining her surgical expertise with patient-centred, supportive care.

Dr Sedaghat completed her medical degree (MBBS) at the Australian National University and undertook specialist surgical training based in Sydney, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). Her advanced training in Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Endocrine Surgery includes post-fellowships at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Westmead Breast Cancer Institute. To further enhance her expertise in breast surgical oncology, she completed a Visiting Fellowship at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA, and was awarded the Sydney Professional Certificate in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery from the University of Sydney.

Dr Sedaghat offers specialist surgical care across the full spectrum of breast conditions - from benign disease to breast cancer - using modern oncoplastic techniques including therapeutic mammaplasty, local perforator flaps, breast conserving surgery with reshaping, and reconstructive options with skin and nipple-sparing mastectomy. She also performs thyroid surgery, minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, and general surgery, such as open and laparoscopic hernia repair, and soft tissue surgery. 

Beyond clinical care, Dr Sedaghat is a respected contributor to academic and surgical advancement. Her research is published in leading national and international surgical journals, and she plays an active role in mentoring and teaching the next generation of doctors. Dr Sedaghat is a member of both Breast Cancer and Endocrine Disease Multidisciplinary Teams, the MD Discipline Lead for Patient Safety and Quality at Macquarie University, a VMO Surgeon with BreastScreen NSW, and a Clinical Examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
