Dr Negin Sedaghat

Overview

Dr Negin Sedaghat FRACS is a Breast, Endocrine and General Surgeon with sub-specialty expertise in breast surgical oncology and oncoplastic breast reconstruction. Her specialist surgical practice offers refined, comprehensive care across the full spectrum of breast conditions, alongside a special focus on minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, and the management of abdominal wall hernia, particularly in women. Dedicated to precision surgery and clear communication, Dr Sedaghat works closely within multidisciplinary teams to thoughtfully guide patients through complex diagnoses and treatment decisions, fostering confidence, dignity, and peace of mind.

 

Dr Sedaghat completed her medical degree (MBBS) at the Australian National University and undertook specialist General Surgery training based in Sydney, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). Her advanced sub-specialty training in Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Endocrine Surgery includes post-fellowships at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Westmead Breast Cancer Institute. She holds the Sydney Professional Certificate in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery with distinction from the University of Sydney and completed a Visiting Fellowship at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA. 

 

Dr Sedaghat offers specialist surgical care across the full spectrum of breast conditions - from cosmetic concerns and benign disease to breast cancer. She has extensive experience in modern oncoplastic and reconstructive techniques for breast cancer, including breast-conserving surgery, therapeutic mammaplasty, and skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy. Her practice also includes thyroid and minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, as well as general surgical procedures such as open and laparoscopic hernia repair and soft tissue surgery.

 

Beyond clinical care, Dr Sedaghat is a respected contributor to academic and surgical advancement. Her research is published in leading national and international surgical journals, and she actively mentors and teaches the next generation of doctors. Dr Sedaghat serves on both Breast Cancer and Endocrine Disease Multidisciplinary Teams, is the MD Discipline Lead for Patient Safety and Quality at Macquarie University, a VMO Surgeon with BreastScreen NSW, and a Clinical Examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
