MALT Reports

MALT offers a range of standard reports, from data extracts to self-audit reports, to meet your reporting needs over the course of your surgical career. See below for a description of each report.

Logbook Summary Report

This is the report that SETs, SIMGs and Fellows undertaking sub-specialisation generate for submission to their Training Boards. JDocs can also use this report. This report provides totals for the procedures defined by your Training Board as Board Reporting Terms. The procedures are grouped into categories as determined by the Board, and totals are given for both the rotation/quarter and entire logbook, as well as broken down by supervision level. The configuration of the Logbook Summary Report is determined by each Training Board, so the exact layout of the report will vary between specialties.

Non-Board Terms Report

This report is very similar to the Logbook Summary Report, however it displays totals for all procedures entered in your logbook, regardless of whether they are Board Reporting Terms for your specialty.

Expanded Summary Report

The Expanded Summary Report is available to all MALT users. It displays all procedures in the selected logbook and date range with additional information (if available) about each procedure such as admission date and complications. This additional information will only display if it was recorded in the Expanded Dataset when entering cases into your logbook.

User Summary Report

This report allows you to view procedure totals across all logbooks for a selected date range. It provides details of Procedure Name, Logbook, Categories 1 and 2 classification, and total number performed (if you have the same procedure recorded in more than one logbook, it will give a subtotal).

Locum Evaluation Report

This report has been designed especially for use by Locums but is available to all MALT users. It provides additional information such as admission date, discharge date, patient URN and initials, complications etc.. It can be generated with data recorded for multiple hospitals, or just one, for a selected date range.

Self-Audit Report

This report is available to all members, giving detail on surgical outcomes to facilitate self-evaluation and review. The report will display details of any cases within the selected date range that meet one of the following criteria:

  • Patient died
  • Complication occurred
  • Unplanned return to theatre
  • Unplanned ICU
  • Unplanned readmission within 30 days

Patient De-identified Report

Available to all users, the Patient Deidentified Report gathers procedure data for a selected patient, such as admission date, co-morbidities, complications, and diagnosis pre and post-management. The patient name is used to search when generating the report, however, in keeping with the report name, no identifying details are included in the report.

Logbook Extract Report

The Logbook Extract Report allows you to export all the data in a particular logbook as an Excel file. You can generate the extract using all available data fields, or just select what is relevant to you. Once in Excel, navigate to the Data tab and select the Filters function to filter the data fields, for example if you only want to look at certain procedures or hospitals.

Hospital Report

The Hospital Report is only available to Executive Officers and is used specifically for site accreditation. It displays procedure counts organized by supervision level for SETs at a specific hospital, date range and specialty logbook.

Procedure Totals Extract Report

This report extracts procedure totals from one or more logbooks and exports them as a .csv file. The extract shows the name of selected logbook/s, user details and information on the procedures and supervision levels.

Qlikview - Accumulative Procedure Indicator Totals Report

This report is only used by Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery Trainees. The Training Board for Otolaryngology has determined that certain procedure should be included in “indicator” categories, in order to track specific aspects of a Trainee’s experience. This report gives the total number of procedures performed for each category for the selected rotation period as well as the entirety of training, broken down into supervision level. It then breaks the indicator categories down into totals of the relevant procedures, also by supervision level, and summarises
