The Fellowship Examination is usually undertaken over several days twice a year; in April/May and August/September. The written component is conducted four to five weeks prior to the clinical/viva components and can be sat in a choice of six Australian cities and two Aotearoa New Zealand cities.
The clinical/viva components are conducted in one city, usually in hospitals, over two to three days. The Clinical/Viva location rotates usually on a two-year cycle.
Exam dates and locations
The written component of the examination is conducted simultaneously across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and is offered in the following locations:
Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
Aotearoa New Zealand: Auckland and Wellington.

Registrations open - Tuesday 9 June 2026 at 1pm AEST (VIC time zone)
Registrations close - Thursday 25 June 2026 at 1pm AEST (VIC time zone) , registrations extended to Monday 29 June 2026 at 1pm AEST
No registrations will be accepted after the closing date/time stipulated above.

Saturday 19 Sept to Sunday 20 Sept 2026; except for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery which will run from Friday 18 Sept to Sunday 20 Sept 2026.
Result Release and Presentation of successful candidates to the Court of Examiners
