  3. 100 years. 100 stories

100 years. 100 stories. What's your story?

Our history is shaped by people, moments and progress.

As our College approaches its centenary in 2027, we are calling for contributions to our 100 years. 100 stories initiative.

We’re inviting submissions from members, staff past and present, patients and more. What’s your story?

We’re looking for stories about:

  • people – colleagues, mentors, patients and those who have made an impact on the profession,
  • events – milestones, turning points and wartime contributions,
  • innovations – advances in surgery, research and technology,
  • objects – tools, equipment and items of significance,
  • activities – training, outreach, global health and education.

Together, these stories will help tell the story of our organisation’s first century; how we continue to uphold the highest standards while evolving and adapting to meet the changing needs of the communities we serve.

How to submit a story

Complete the submission form below and tell us about your story. You can provide as much detail as you have, including names, dates, locations and why the story is significant. If you have photographs, documents or other supporting material, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us about these too. Our team may contact you for additional information if your story is selected for further consideration.

What happens next

All stories' ideas will be assessed against our editorial criteria including relevance, impact, historical significance, accuracy and evidence, interest, representation, and more. We will also need to ensure any people involved in the stories consent to being part of this initiative.

Selected stories will be authentic, accurate and engaging and demonstrate meaningful impact; will be supported by strong photos or archival material where available; and will help tell the story of RACS' first 100 years.

Not every story will be published but all will be considered. It will be up to the RACS editorial team to determine which are selected for publication. If  selected, we’ll contact you to confirm next steps and progress your story to publication.

Where stories will appear?

Selected stories may be shared across our website, social media, member newsletters and College events, with some featured in presentations or a final digital collection.
