Category – Contributions to Surgery
Approved by Council in June 2004,the Heslop Medal commemorates the work of Barbara and John Heslop in association with the Board of Basic Surgical Training (2000-2007) and its predecessor bodies. It recognises and rewards the contributions of members of the Clinical, Pathology, Physiology and Anatomy Committees – particularly noting that many members of the committees are not Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
The Heslop Medal is awarded to a person who has made a long-term (greater than 5 year’s duration) and outstanding contribution to Board of Surgical Education and Training and its committees. Nominations are made through the Board of Surgical Education and Training and the medal is presented by the President or Chair of the State or Regional Committee at the time of a State or Aotearoa New Zealand scientific meeting.
