The National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre’s Trauma Service team is currently seeking a dedicated Trauma Fellow to join its Darwin team. 

Based at Royal Darwin Hospital, this 12-month opportunity offers a blend of clinical, educational and research responsibilities. In addition to managing emergency and elective surgical cases across subspecialty areas such as neurotrauma, vascular and thoracic surgery, you will also engage in trauma research, disaster response and training initiatives.

of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia. It is home to Australia’s largest First Nations population who reside in urban, remote and very remote communities.

The Department is well supported with Training and Unaccredited Registrars, International Graduates and three Clinical Nurse Consultants.

As an ENT Specialist Clinician, your primary objective is to provide specialist Ear, Nose and Throat service to the Royal Darwin Hospital, Regional hospitals and First Nation’s communities; contribute to post graduate education, including the supervision of trainees, Junior Medical and Nursing staff as well as teaching of medical students.

Your key duties will include conducting regular inpatient ward rounds, outpatient clinics and theatre sessions, incorporating teaching, and providing specialist opinion to referring medical practitioners.
This involves providing specialist care and advice on the management of patients with ENT conditions and directing / supervising / evaluating the work of subordinate medical staff in the provision of patient care.
In addition, you will be required to participate in emergency after hours care on a roster basis, liaise with other medical, paramedical and nursing staff and contribute to workplace improvements within the ENT Department.

To be successful you require a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent if an International Medical Graduate (IMG), have demonstrated training and expertise in providing specialist ENT services, and a commitment to participate in continuous medical education including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, research, teaching, quality improvement activities and clinical audits as appropriate.

An interest in improving Indigenous health and Otology will be received.

Further develop your professional expertise in Urology with a 12-month appointment as an Unaccredited Urology Registrar.

Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principal tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.

Currently, the Royal Darwin Hospital is accepting applications for an Unaccredited Urology Registrar starting in February 2026.

Under the direction of Dr Henry Duncan, a senior urologist with specialist interests in stone diseases, urological cancers and benign prostate conditions, you will be part of the urological surgical team providing timely and high-quality services to patients at the Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals.

Your key duties will include the admission, management and discharge of urology patients referred from the Emergency Department, undertaking consults for inpatients and participating in surgical operations under the supervision of fellows/surgeons. You will also contribute to the supervision of junior medical and clinical staff and participate in the Acute Surgical Service on-call roster. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in continuous medical education, professional development, peer review, research and quality improvement activities.

To be successful, you are required to be eligible for appropriate registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), have relevant training and experience in Urology and General Surgery, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients.
