RACS supports maintaining the Medical Board of Australia together with AHPRA as regulators of medical registration and notifications. Nevertheless, our submission to this Committee raises a number of issues related to the administration of these systems as being of concern.
This submissions emphasises that AHPRA should increase focus on ensuring practitioners feel supported during the AHPRA process. Additionally, practitioners subject to notifications must be afforded natural justice and procedural fairness, including the right to respond to the allegations made and a right to challenge any adverse decisions before they are made public.
