After completing the ATLS® course, participants will be able to:

• demonstrate the concepts and principles of primary and secondary patient assessment.
• establish management priorities in the initial management of a trauma patient.
• initiate primary and secondary management of a simulated trauma patient in a timely manner.
• demonstrate skills, in a trauma situation, that are often required in the initial assessment and treatment of patients with multiple injuries.

Provider course - for participants

• Runs over 2.5-days, valid for 4 years
• 16 participants on each course

• Highly interactive skills stations and scenarios

Refresher course - for anyone who has completed a provider course and needs to remain current

• Runs over 1.5 days
• 16 participants on each course
• Faculty of trauma experts
• Highly interactive skills stations and scenarios

The refresher course combines facilitated discussions with interactive case scenarios to create a uniquely interactive, learner focused experience.

ATLS®ADF course - for Australian Defence Force personnel only

This course is an ATLS® provider course and is delivered by ADF affiliated faculty.

The course covers the following:

• Initial assessment and management
• Airway and ventilatory management
• Shock
• Thoracic trauma
• Head trauma
• Abdominal and pelvic trauma
• Practical surgical skills
• Spine and spinal cord trauma
• Musculoskeletal trauma
• Thermal injuries
• Trauma in pregnancy and intimate partner violence
• Paediatric trauma and geriatric trauma
• Transfer to definitive care
• Role of FAST

This course includes content that aligns to the following surgical competencies.

• Medical expertise
• Technical expertise
• Professionalism
• Judgement and decision making
• Collaboration and teamwork
• Communication

Participants are required to attend and engage in each session of the course and are assessed on both a written multiple-choice questionnaire and practical exam (initial assessment).

Each component must be completed successfully to achieve ATLS® certification, which is valid for 4 years.

The ATLS® provider course caters to:

• Junior doctors

• Doctors training or specialising in intensive care, emergency medicine, anaesthetics, surgery, and general practice

• SET Trainees of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (training requirement)

• Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Trainees (training requirement)

To register, applicants must be post-graduate year (PGY) 2+ registered medical graduates (e.g. MBBS).

The ATLS® refresher course caters to:

• Doctors who have completed a provider course within the last 4.5 years

If it has been longer than 4.5 years since completing a provider course, consider completing another provider course instead of a refresher to remain current.

Australia

• Provider course – $3,620.00 (including GST)
• Refresher course – $2,690.00 (including GST)

Australian SET's who are mandated to complete the course are exempt from GST on Australian courses.

Aotearoa New Zealand

• Provider course – $4,050.00 (including GST)
• Refresher course – $3,010.00 (including GST)

Courses conducted in Aotearoa New Zealand will be invoiced in NZ dollars, regardless of residential country of applicant.

The fee includes:

• online course manual: ATLS® 10th Edition, American College of Surgeons, 2018
• online resources, including pre-course test
• catering
• certificate upon successful completion

Fees for both Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand will remain at 2025 fee prices

When a course reaches capacity, you can register to be placed on the waitlist for that course. Our team will contact you should a place become available.

Cancellation/withdrawal by participant:

• Withdrawal more than 10 weeks prior to course: 95% refund of course fee
• Withdrawal less than 10 weeks prior to course: 50% refund of course fee
• Withdrawal less than 6 weeks prior to course: no refund of course fee

If you cannot attend the course due to sickness or bereavement, the refund amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please advise [email protected] as soon as possible for consideration.

• Transfers to alternative courses are not permitted, and will be subject to the applicable cancellation fee
• Refunds will be refunded by the payment method used at time of purchase
• Refunds for payments made by PayPal more than 6 months ago cannot be refunded. We will contact you for an alternative refund method.

Cancellation by RACS:

A full refund will be issued if a course is cancelled by RACS.
