At RACS, we are proud to champion the achievements and contributions of women in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand across surgery, education, leadership and advocacy.
Women continue to shape the future of surgery through clinical excellence, research innovation, and leadership at every level of the profession. From trainees to senior surgeons, from operating theatres to boardrooms, and our own Women in Surgery Committee their impact strengthens surgical care and improves outcomes for patients and communities across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
At RACS, we are committed to expanding the number of women in surgical training and to ensuring the training programs do not disadvantage them.
“Women in Surgery is not about special treatment. It is about removing structural barriers so that talent, professionalism, and leadership can be recognised fairly. When we do that well, standards rise and patients benefit”, says Pecky de Silva, Chair of the Women in Surgery Committee.
We invite our members to come together in conversation and celebration at our various in person events to honour the spirit of International Women's Day. From insightful panel discussions to breakfast events and more, there will be something for everyone to participate in and learn from.
