How to apply

You can apply to the Scholarships and Grants program by registering and logging in to our online hub RACS Unlock.

RACS Unlock is also linked from each scholarship and grant webpage.

  • RACS Unlock

Application is via the Scholarships and Grants Program online platform, RACS Unlock, hosted by Survey Monkey Apply. Emailed applications are not accepted. When the Scholarships and Grants Program is open for application, you will see two programs on your dashboard:

    - Learning and Development program
    - Research program

You may create applications in both programs.

    Registering your account
You may register or login to RACS Unlock at any time, however applications will not display on your dashboard until the scholarship opening date.
There is no need to re-register if you already have a RACS Unlock account however you will need to log-in using your registration email address.
If you have previously been a recommender or reviewer but not an applicant, you may update your reviewer profile to add yourself as an applicant.

    Registration tips
We recommend using browsers Google Chrome or Firefox. Please do not use Safari, MS Edge or Explorer.
Please make note of the email address you use for your registration as you will need to use the same email address each time you log in.
Do not log in with Facebook, Twitter or Google as these may not match with your registered email address.
If you are a recommender or reviewer, the email address you use to login must match the email address through which you received your invitation to register.
my.surgeons username and passwords are not enabled on RACS Unlock as we've been advised by the tech specialists that this would then exclude non-RACS members from accessing this system.

  • Your application

You may apply to as many scholarships and grants as you are eligible across both the Learning and Development and Research programs.

Each scholarship and grant webpage lists application requirements. If the applicant is a project team, the lead researcher must complete the RACS Unlock acceptance form.

The time required to complete an application will vary depending on the requirements for the scholarships and grants for which you are applying. Allow yourself time to collate your application by logging-in to RACS Unlock early once applications open. Once logged-in:

    1. Select the Research program or the Learning and Development program (you may commence applications in both program streams)
    2. Complete the eligibility & demographic and career & employment tasks (complete these in one program stream, and they will pre-populate to an application in the other program stream)
    3. Depending on your responses in these tasks, scholarships and grants for which you may be eligible will then show for your selection
    4. Complete the activity proposal
    5. You may be required to upload required evidence documents
    6. You may save your application to continue within the application period or submit your application
    7. You will receive reminder emails until your application is submitted or the application period has closed.

For most scholarships and grants, your application is based on your proposed activity. You can't submit more than one application for the same activity, however you may complete another application should you wish to submit a second (or third) activity or research proposal. Some of your forms will then pre-populate your previous entries which you may edit.

Unless otherwise stated on the scholarship and grant guideline, scholarship and grant activity cannot commence prior to the closing date of applications.
