Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people are the traditional landowners of Australia and have occupied Australia for thousands of years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people have unique rights under the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP) adopted by the Australian Government in 2009 and The Close the Gap Statement of Intent. RACS is committed to health equity and increasing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island surgical workforce.
