    2023 Victorian Fellows Essay and Photography prizes

    In 2023 the Victorian State Committee have decided on a single theme for all State awards - Efficiency in the age of sustainability.

    The theme considers the changing world we live in the challenges we face regarding access to broad societal resources. You you are encouraged to consider this theme through your lens, whether that be in your practice, your community, or your family.

    Victorian Fellows Essay Prize

    The 2023 theme is Efficiency in the age of sustainability’.

    Please ensure the essay does not exceed 1000 words and is in an easily accessible file.

    The Victorian State Committee requests human generated essays, not AI.

    Victorian Fellows Photography Prize

    The 2023 theme ‘Efficiency in the age of sustainability’. 

    Please ensure you provide details in your submission of where the photograph was taken and how aligns with the theme.

    Submission dates for the prizes

    Submissions for 2023 open 14 March 2023 and close 30 August 2023.



    The prize will include an invitation to the invitation only event Surgeons Evening, featuring the GJ Royal Lecture and Medal recipient and Past Chairs dinner on 10 November 2023.
    As well as a certificate and listed as an award winner on the RACS website.
    The Victorian state office will promote the prize winners through its networks and the local media. Submissions may be used, with acknowledgement in RACS publications.
    The winning essay may be included in Surgical News.
    The picture will be displayed in the Victorian state office for the year.
