Usage

Usage is mandatory.

Logbooks

Fellows undertaking the BreastSurgANZ Post Fellowship Training Program have been allocated the BreastSurgANZ Logbook and are required to use this logbook for the duration of their training.

This logbook will be allocated in addition to existing logbooks such as the SET - General Surgery logbook and the Fellow - General Surgery logbook.

Supervisors

MALT uses the terms Nominated Supervisor and Alternate Supervisor. Supervisors can view cases for the Fellows they are supervising and provide comments on specific cases.

Nominated Supervisor refers to the hospital unit supervisor.
Alternate Supervisor refers to the surgeon in theatre with Fellow, if present.

Individual cases do not require supervisor approval from within the MALT system (see approval process below).

Hospitals

Record cases done in all hospitals (both accredited and unaccredited).

Procedures

The BreastSurgANZ logbook utilises the SNOMED CT-AU reference set with selected terms identified by the BreastSurgANZ Society as reporting terms (XLSX 12.31MB).

Approval process

Cases move through a non-supervisory workflow progression from 'draft' to 'completed'.

  1. Fill in and save the case (draft).
  2. Ensure all cases are marked as complete (completed).
  3. Generate the Logbook Summary Report.
  4. Submit the Logbook Summary Report to BreastSurgANZ as instructed. Please note the report should only contain 'completed' status.

Rotation periods

Rotation periods are deactivated at a set date, after which no further cases can be entered unless approval is sought.
