Generic Surgical Science Examination (GSSE)
The Generic Surgical Sciences Examination (GSSE) is designed to ensure that candidates have demonstrated a minimum standard of knowledge in the surgical sciences of anatomy, pathology and physiology - the foundation of surgical training. Passing the GSSE requires demonstration of this 'minimum standard' of knowledge in each discipline as well as sound knowledge 'across the board'.
All specialty training boards have introduced the successful completion of the GSSE as a mandatory eligibility requirement for selection.
The Generic Surgical Sciences Exam (GSSE) will now take place in 4-5 November 2020. Registration will now take place from 7 July - 4 August.
Candidates apply via an online registration link and may only register during the advertised application period. No late applications will be accepted.
