Global Health scholarships

Global Health scholarships and grants fund opportunities for surgeons to undertake training activities and facilitate professional contact with medical personnel. The recipients are from Asia and the Pacific, Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

2027 Global health scholarships and grants

Applications to 2027 Global health scholarships will recommence from 2026 with EOIs (expressions of interest).

We recognise there is a shortage of trained and skilled local surgical specialists in many developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. This shortage severely reduces these countries' capacity to deliver surgical and medical care to their populations.

The overarching goal of the program is to improve the health outcomes for disadvantaged communities in the region, by providing training opportunities to promising individuals who will contribute to the long-term development of surgical and medical capacity in their country.

Scholarships and grants are available for application each August through the learning and development round of the RACS Scholarships and Grants Program.

As the availability of each scholarship and grant is determined year-to-year, please check back on this page mid-year to view the Global Health scholarships and grants on offer for the following year.

Please visit the Scholarships and Grants Program page for further information on Global Health scholarships and grants and other opportunities available through the program.
