Generic Surgical Science Examination (GSSE)

Overview 

The Generic Surgical Sciences Examination (GSSE) is designed to ensure that candidates have demonstrated a minimum standard of knowledge in the surgical sciences of anatomy, pathology and physiology - the foundation of surgical training. Passing the GSSE requires demonstration of this 'minimum standard' of knowledge in each discipline as well as sound knowledge 'across the board'. 

All specialty training boards have introduced the successful completion of the GSSE as a mandatory eligibility requirement for selection. 

Please note that registration for this exam closes at 11:59 AM Midday AEDT/AEST (VIC time zone) on the closing date stipulated, late registrations will not be accepted under any circumstances.
