Prevocational & Skills Education Committee

Information about the Prevocational and Skills Education committee, established to oversee a cohesive educational approach to establish clinical skills training as an integral component of the SET training program.

Overview

The Prevocational and Skills Education Committee (PSEC) has direct governance over skills training programs developed and managed by the Skills Training department. PSEC aims to maintain the educational standards and relevance in the delivery of technical and non-technical skills. Each program is supported by a subcommittee of PSEC and is responsible for the management of faculty, participants and ongoing curriculum development.

ASSET: Australia and New Zealand Surgical Skills Education and Training Committee
CCrISP®: Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient Committee
CLEAR: Critical Literature Evaluation and Research Committee
EMST: Early Management of Severe Trauma Committee
OWR: Operating with Respect Education Committee
TIPS: Training in Professional Skills Committee

Aligned to this, PSEC is the governing committee for the ongoing development of resources and information that supports the JDocs Framework, under the management of the Prevocational and Online Education department. The JDocs Framework describes skills and behaviours and will assist junior doctors in their development towards a career in surgery.
