2025 Application Dates

Applications Open: 12 noon (AEDT) - Wednesday 19 February 2025

Applications Close: 12 noon (AEDT) - Wednesday 12 March 2025.

Applications submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.

It is acceptable to submit evidence under any category as long as it is submitted via the RACS online application system. Email copies will not be accepted.

Interviews

Interviews will be conducted face-to-face on 21 June 2025, unless advised otherwise.

Announcement of offers will be made by Friday 25 July 2025.

These regulations are applicable for the 2026 intake conducted during 2025 only. These regulations may be changed from year to year and cannot be relied on for selection intakes conducted in future years for the Surgical Education and Training Program in Paediatric Surgery.

Any regulations for the SET Program from any previous years are not applicable and cannot be relied on for meeting the SET Program requirements for the 2026 intake unless specifically stated in the current regulations. 

Procedural Skills and Professional Capabilities

Applicants must submit the Paediatric Surgery Procedural Skills and Professional Capabilities form via the RACS online application system by the closing date for applications. Refer to the Selection Regulations for further information.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Selection Initiative

RACS has approved the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Selection Initiative policy (PDF 30.25KB) and the Committee of Paediatric Surgery implemented this initiative in the selection process. Refer to the Selection Regulations for further information.

July 2025.

Past offers

In 2018 one (1)* Trainee was appointed to the SET Program to commence in 2019.
There was no selection offered in 2019 for Trainees to commence in 2020.
In 2020 three (3)* Trainees were appointed to the SET Program to commence in 2021.
In 2021 two (2)* Trainees were appointed to the SET Program to commence in 2022.
In 2022 four (4)* Trainees were appointed to the SET Program to commence in 2023.
In 2023 four (4)* Trainees were appointed to the SET Program to commence in 2024.
In 2024 six (6)* Trainees were appointed to the SET Program to commence in 2025.

*Includes deferred offers.
