The high standard of surgical expertise in Colorectal Surgery is fostered and maintained through a close working relationship with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). The Post Fellowship training program for the specialty is a collaboration between the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the CSSANZ, and has been since Colorectal Surgery was established as a sub-specialty.
Mark Killingback Prize
Awarded annually for the best scientific paper presented by a Surgical Education and Training (SET) Trainee or Younger Fellow (within 10 years of receiving Fellowship) at the Annual Scientific Congress (ASC) on an area related to colon and rectal surgery. The prize allows for travel (return airfare, meeting registration and accommodation) to present the winning paper at the meeting of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) the following year. Annual Scientific Congress
Scientific and education programs are run at the ASC. The Sections' Annual Business Meeting is also held at the ASC.
Partnering with CSSANZ
The Section partners with CSSANZ and other organisations at the following meetings:
- Tripartite Colorectal Meeting. The next meeting is to be held in Auckland, New Zealand 09-12 November 2020.
- Spring Colorectal Meeting. The next meeting is to be held with General Surgeons Australia in Hobart, 24-26 October 2019.
- Colorectal Surgery Meeting. The next meeting is be held 23 November 2019.

Post Fellowship Training Program
The Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) Post Fellowship Training Program in Colorectal Surgery regulations were approved by Council in 1992 and accreditation of the program under the current PFET process was formalised in March 2016. The Colorectal Surgery PFET program is overseen by the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery (ANZTBCRS) and provides training in both Australia and New Zealand.
